A heat warning has been issued across the Ottawa Valley.
Hot and humid conditions will continue today and likely into Thursday.
Environment Canada says temperatures will soar into the low thirties again today and Thursday.
Warm temperatures are expected again tonight with temperatures only dropping into the low twenties overnight.
Afternoon humidex values will reach near 40 once again today and probably again tomorrow.
Cooler and less humid air is expected to arrive Friday or by the weekend.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.
Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
When it’s hot eat cool, light meals.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
