As some people in the community struggle with addiction, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is reminding residents of the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act.
The act gives some legal protection for those who seek emergency help during an overdose.
It’s meant to reduce fear of police during overdoses so that people can get life-saving help.
The act gives protection for charges against possession drugs for self-consumption and violating conditions of parole, bail, probation or conditional sentence for a simple drug possession charge.
