For the first time in 2021, all schools under the jurisdiction of the Renfrew County District School Board are flying the Rainbow Flag in celebration of PRIDE Month.
That’s Amy Johnson, the RCDSB Principal for Equity and Anti-Racism.
A small ceremony was held this morning at Arnprior District High School.
Local PFLAG coordinator Sophie Smith Dore says the Rainbow Flag sends an important signal to LGTBQ2S students that they are not alone.
The area’s trustee representative on the RCDS Board, Nick Edge, says raising the Rainbow Flag at each board facility is a big step forward.
Edge hopes that in 2022 the entire student body will be able to be on hand to witness the significant event as circumstances permit.
