The Ontario Provincial Police SAVE team are mandated to patrol the County-owned Algonquin Trail- and all other similar trails across the Eastern Region.
ATVers know the police are stretched thin, and take full advantage of their absence.
The cops and the Renfrew County ATV Club did team up for a one-day patrol May 21st on both the K&P Trail and the Algonquin Trail.
Mayor Tom Peckett says the results were shared with McNab-Braeside Council at its meeting June 1st.
The McNab-Braeside Mayor says there’s been no police commitment to further trail patrols, but there is a potential solution.
The Renfrew County ATV Club has leases for portions of the trail, but its volunteer wardens only have jurisdiction over members of the club itself at this point.
