The County of Renfrew will be stone-dusting a 21-kilometer section of the Algonquin Trail between Renfrew and Cobden. Once the work is complete, 65-kilometers of the trail in Renfrew County will be completed with stone-dust, from Arnprior to Turcotte Road in Cobden. The contract for the supply, delivery and packing of quarry limestone crusher dust along along the Algonquin Trail in Horton, Admaston/Bromley and Whitewater Region has been awarded to GP Splinter Forest Products at a cost of $392,200 plus HST. Work is expected to be complete by mid-July. County of Renfrew staff have deemed the price of aggregates reasonable this year and are considering additional work. Director of Development and Property, Craig Kelly said they will be bringing a report back in June to stone dust another section of the Algonquin Trail from Turcotte Road up to Greenwood Road or into Pembroke. A report will be brought to Development and Property committee in June. The pile of aggregate in Chalk River will be addressed later this summer or in the fall.
