A letter to two Federal ministers supporting the Eastern Ontario Regional Network’s (EORN’s) proposal to bring high speed broadband to the area has been signed by representatives of jurisdictions across the region.
McNab-Braeside Mayor Tom Peckett says Township Council authorized him to add his name to the document at Tuesday’s municipal meeting.
The letter is addressed to Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development and Laurie Scott, Federal Minister of Infrastructure.
The document touts EORN’s proven track record on similar initiatives to date.
The letter notes the regional ask represents 5.7 percent of the Federal Government’s national 7 billion dollar pledge for improved broadband delivery.
The Feds have yet to be specific on how their commitment will be distributed.
