The OPP has laid a number of charges against a Pembroke resident.
Police say on Sunday night (May 16th, 2021), around 9:00pm, officers responded to a a report of a possible impaired driver in the east end of Pembroke.
Police located and investigated a parked vehicle and driver on Catherine Street and say the driver fled on foot. After a short foot chase, the individual was taken into custody for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer.
Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, cash and a cell phone were among the items seized.
The OPP has charged 30-year-old Tyson Kennedy of Pembroke with operation while impaired by drugs, obstruct police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three counts of failure to comply with a release order and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
The accused remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 21, 2021.
Back in February, the accused was also arrested and charged after an alleged break and enter at a restaurant and gas bar under construction in Cobden.
At the time, Kennedy was charged with break and enter, possession of methamphetamine and for possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
