Another court date has been set for a former Arnprior resident who’s been found guilty of a long-list of sexual assault related offences.
74-year-old William or Bill Kirby has been out on bail for the last 2.5-years since he was formally charged in September of 2018.
In November of 2020 (6-months ago), Kirby was found guilty of indecent assault, common assault, pointing a firearm, sexual assault and assault.
The charges involve two victims dating back between 1974 and 2001.
On Monday, the defense asked for Kirby to serve 12 to 18 months for the sexual assault, 6 to 12 for indecent assault, another 6 months for pointing a firearm and 30-days for each assault.
Defense Attorney Adrian Cleaver suggested the sentences run concurrent, meaning his client would spend a year and a half behind bars for those offenses.
Kirby told the judge he was disgusted by the charges and knows the things he was found guilty of didn’t happen.
He said one of the victims has been working at a legal firm for a while and her statement was well put together.
Kirby will be back in court next week (May 14th, 2021) when a date is set for sentencing.
In a separate trial, Kirby was also found guilty of kidnapping, aggravated assault and for issuing threats to cause death or bodily harm.
He will be sentenced for those crimes later this month.
