Three new COVID-19 infections being reported in Renfrew County and District today. The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) reported two new cases yesterday, marking five positive tests in the last two days.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Cushman says they’re seeing “bubbles” of up to 20 people when doing contact tracing after a positive COVID-19 test.
Cushman says that’s too many contacts and notes just because we’re in the “green zone” doesn’t mean we should be socializing with others outside of your own household.
The RCDHU Acting Medical Officer of Health pointed to one example of a recent bonfire party, raising concerns if that kind of activity is not done carefully.
Yesterday, the RCDHU declared the Barry’s Bay area a COVID-19 hotspot in the county. Over one third of the local cases (36%) are coming from that area which only has 12% of the population.
