It’s prepared by the province’s critical care COVID-19 command centre, and the guiding principle is that hospitals, if faced with a COVID overflow will have to assess patients according to a “short-term mortality risk assessment.”
Eric Hanna, Chief Executive Officer of Arnprior Regional Health, says we are nowhere near that point in the Valley.
At the moment, there are 416 patients with COVID-19 in ICUs in Ontario, which has a total of 1,800 total ICU beds.
There is the possibility of inter-hospital transfer: Covid patients from out of the area being transferred to available ICU placements elsewhere.
