If you’re guilty of ignoring provisions of the Reopening Ontario Act, or other aspects of a declared State of Emergency, there can be consequences- even costly consequences, according to East Region OPP Media Officer Bill Dickson.
Dickson says it’s not a “name and shame” situation.
The OPP spokesperson says there’s no direct communication with municipal authorities about specific incidents, rather the topic is handled via the local Police Services Board.
Dickson says that, on the other hand, there is close communication between police and local health units.
In addition to the Police, municipal bylaw officers are empowered to penalize violators of any virus-related rules.
