Interchange at Highway 17 and Calabogie Road to be complete by 2023

The province has provided an update on the expansion of Highway 17 in Renfrew County. Work is underway to create four lanes of traffic along Highway 17 between Renfrew and Arnprior. Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney has sent a letter to McNab/Braeside Mayor Tom Peckett saying they are currently undergoing the process to procure a design builder for the Highway 17 and Calabogie Road interchange. A design is expected in 2021 with work on the Calabogie Road interchange to be completed by 2023. When the project was first announced in 2019 the Ontario government said it would take roughly 10-years. Work includes widening and creating four lanes of traffic on 22.5 kilometres of Highway 17 from Scheel Drive to three kilometres west of Bruce Street outside of Renfrew. Stage 1 of the work includes the construction of a new interchange at the Calabogie Road intersection. Stage 2 of the project includes building three new interchanges and widening Highway 17 from two lanes to four from Scheel Drive in the Township of McNab/Braeside to just west of Bruce Street in Horton Township. Future dates for any public meetings and consultation will be shared as needed.
