Injections of the Moderna COVID vaccine have begun in the Outaouais after 500 doses of the Moderna vaccine were delivered to a Gatineau destination Tuesday.
A mobile team will now travel the region, administering the needles on site and residents of government-operated long-term care homes are the first in line.
Because of short supply and critical demand the vaccination strategy has been modified.
A second injection will only be given if efficacy studies show protection from the virus has declined.
The arrival of vaccines doesn’t mean we can slack off on COVID protection protocols: limit contact with people who do not live in your home, respect social distancing, wear your mask properly in public places and wash your hands!
