Quebec is imposing a province wide curfew starting Saturday (January 9th) in an effort to halt surging COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.
Premier Francois Legault says the 8 pm to 5 am curfew will be in place for the next four weeks.
Legault said yesterday he wants to give Quebecers what he called an “electro-shock” regarding the critical situation in the province’s hospitals.
The premier says COVID-19 infections continue to rise despite the fact that schools, retail stores and many other businesses have been closed since December.
He adds the transmission is coming from private gatherings.
