Local police have laid over a dozen charges against an out of town driver.
The Renfrew OPP was conducting a traffic stop around 10:00pm last night (December 23rd) when a vehicle actively avoided the checkpoint.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle and when they blocked the driver in, they accelerated away resulting in minor damage to the police vehicle.
The vehicle was found on Highway 511 where police tried to stop the driver again.
OnStar was contacted by the rental agency, which led to the vehicle finally coming to a stop on the northbound shoulder of Highway 511 south of Larocque Road.
Police say the driver immediately jumped over the guardrail and ran off.
The Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit were deployed and the driver and three passengers were arrested around 2:00am this morning (December 24th).

- Operation while prohibited – two counts
- Assault with a weapon
