A Special Meeting of Arnprior Council will be held via video-conference Wednesday at 6PM to discuss a municipal response to issues flowing from a recent CBC series on Racism in the Valley.
There have been a number of voices raised terming initial reaction by the Town to be deficient- in that there has yet to be a formal apology issued by Arnprior to affected communities and individuals, and no plan put forward to address or rectify overt or systemic practises that contribute to its continuation.
Councillor Lisa McGee says both topics are included on the Special Meeting agenda, and the topics are important enough not to leave them over to 2021.
She tells Oldies 107.7 that the meeting arises following a petition by the majority of councillors, as allowed under the municipal bylaw.
