Arnprior Mayor Walter Stack knows Town meetings have their own protocols and procedures, but wrangling over how to move forward kept a plan to deal with racism in the community from coming to the floor Monday night.
The Mayor made four suggestions in the wake of local fallout arising from his comments to the CBC, which ran in a recent expose on racism in the Valley.
Stack was hoping his peers would approve a plan that he had developed in consultation with staff at this week’s meeting.
The topic wasn’t on the meeting’s agenda, and rather than councillors recognizing its urgency, procedural objections kept it from reaching the table.
The Arnprior Mayor suggests councillors should expedite their feedback so that further time is not lost.
