Festive RIDE programs are having their impact.
Week Three of this year’s campaign is in the books.
From December 5th to December 11th, officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 39 RIDE checks in the area.
No impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.
That doesn’t mean there were not drivers who had been drinking.
An incident on Wednesday December 9th can be cited as proof.
About one in the morning, police pulled over a speeding vehicle on Pembroke Street West.
A Roadside Screening Device was used, and the driver was then taken to the detachment for further testing.
The 25 year-old from Petawawa was charged with impaired and Over 80- as well as stunt racing because police believe she was travelling at 50 kilometres over the limit at the time of arrest.
