The Backyard Astronomer, Gary Boyle
If you think seven pounds of organic space junk streaking across the evening sky is something to write home about, wait til you see the Geminids Meteor shower this coming Sunday and Monday nights (December 13th and 14th).
Backyard Astronomer Gary Boyle says in this case it’s not an object streaking through our night sky, it’s the planet passing through a cloud.
Boyle says the Geminids are usually the strongest meteor shower of the year, and this is the one major shower that provides good viewing prior to midnight, as the constellation of Gemini is well placed from 10PM onward.
