After taking the best part of two construction seasons, the County bridge crossing the Madawaska River in Arnprior has been refurbished- and the event celebrated with a ribbon cutting.
Wednesday afternoon’s ceremony drew dignitaries from both Renfrew County and the neighbouring communities of McNab-Braeside and Arnprior to site on Madawaska Boulevard.
Arnprior County Councillor Dan Lynch observed this is the initial major infrastructure completed under his first-term watch.
Warden Robinson says the job was well worth the 1.5 million dollar price tag.
The first bridge across the Madawaska River locally was built in 1831-32, but reconstruction work on the current structure commenced in June of 2019.
