A motion at Arnprior Town Council Monday sought to begin discussions between the Town and its neighbour, McNab-Braeside, over possibile joint use of the Township landfill, located off Calabogie Road.
Arnprior Mayor Walter Stack says the proposal was defeated by a 4-3 vote.
Stack says with the defeat of the motion, nothing changes as far as potential environmental hazards of leachate from the Town’s current landfill- which is located within the former village of Braeside.
The Arnprior Mayor finds it ironic that his municipality has committed to shared services via the seven-community Local Efficiency Group, but has hesitated to take an initial step when the opportunity arose.
