Greater Madawaska residents are concerned that visitor vehicles lining the highway near the Eagle’s Nest Trails network are an accident waiting to happen.
Mayor Brian Hunt tells myFM that the pandemic has lured city-dwellers to the great outdoors in record numbers.
Hunt doesn’t think ratepayer concern goes as far as paying for a parking lot for cars coming to use the attraction.
He says the trail network is owned by the Ministry of Natural Resources, and leads into land claimed by the Algonquin Nation.
Hunt says Plan B might involve seeking a grant through the Trillium Foundation Regeneration Fund.
