A local Educational Assistant (EA) has received a provincial award.
The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) says long-time Educational Assistant Sharon Yandernoll is a recipient of The Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP) Support Staff Worker Award.
Principal at St. John Bosco Julia Graydon says Sharon has worked as an EA for the board for the past 32-years.
Teacher and co-worker Lizz Addicott said she led the nomination and application process because Yandernoll comes to work every day ready, willing and prepared to make a difference in students’ lives.
She goes on to say Yandernoll is an exceptional educational assistant and the single most optimistic and positive person she has ever encountered in her career.
Addicott says her co-worker treats everyone she encounters with the utmost respect and makes everyone who walks through the doors of the school feel welcomed and valued.
Yandernoll was nominated for her inclination to help in all areas, high expectations of staff and pupils, willingness to learn, her effective strategies and depth of knowledge, and the commitment and love she shows.
The award honours outstanding support staff who are integral in maintaining safe, clean and welcoming educational environments.
Director of Education Jaimie Perry says they are so blessed to have Yandernoll on the RCCDSB team.
