Police in Quebec are searching for a missing man in a suspected drowning.
On August 5th around 3:45pm emergency crews were notified of a missing person in the Lac Galarneau sector in the Coulonge River in Mansfield-et-Pontefract.
A man reportedly was swimming in the river and was swept away by the rapids. Police say he was not wearing a personal floatation device and was quickly lost.
Fire crews from Isle-aux-Allumettes and Mansfield along with the SQ helicopter assisted with the search. By late evening the man in this 30’s was still not located.
The search continues today along the Coulonge River with assistance from the SQ helicopter, personal watercraft, walkers and divers. More details will be released as they become available.
