57 year-old Patrick Robert Lynch of Mississippi Mills has been identified as the homicide victim who was found with serious injuries early Wednesday morning in a Carleton Place motel room.
His accused murderer, 30 year-old Shane Sabourin of Carleton Place was apprehended just before 1PM yesterday, following a police search.
Lanark County OPP are assuring the public their is no further threat to its safety.
The police investigation began at 4AM at a motel on Highway 7 near McNeeley Avenue, where the victim was discovered in serious condition.
Lynch later died in hospital from his injuries.
Members with the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested Sabourin, and the case is being brought forward under auspices of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
The accused, who remains in custody, is to appear before a judge in Perth Thursday (today) on charges of first degree murder.
