When Premier Doug Ford says he wants to regulate the Towing Industry by policing the bad weeds, he’s largely talking about behaviours in Metro Toronto and the GTA, where the competition can be cut-throat.
Larry Maves, owner-operator of Marcel’s Towing in Pembroke, says there are already regulations; he sees the problem as one of enforcement.
Maves says on the major expressways, towing solicitation can create major headaches for the unsuspecting customer.
Locally, it’s more an issue that operators aren’t running their businesses on a level playing field.
The Marcel’s Towing business owner says consultation on the new regulations would be great- but Premier Ford hasn’t called him.
