The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has released a monthly profile of all cases reported in our area. Since testing for COVID-19 started in March, the local health unit says over 12,300 swabs have been completed with 25 confirmed cases.
The RCDHU says 13 cases were reported in March, four cases in April, six cases in May and two so far in June. Of the 25 confirmed cases across Renfrew County and District, six are related to travel, 13 are from close contact with a case and another six are from community spread.
The health unit says two residents in long-term care or retirement homes in Renfrew County have tested positive for COVID-19, another three health care workers in Renfrew County have tested positive for the virus, ten health care workers who live in our area, but work outside of the district have tested positive for the virus and another ten community members have tested positive.
The information from the health unit shows ten cases in the Renfrew area, eight in the Arnprior area, four in Pembroke area and another one case each in the Barry’s Bay, Deep River and Petawawa areas.
As of Monday, June 22nd the RCDHU says 22 cases are considered resolved and one person has died from the virus. The local health unit is aware of two active cases, one remains in hospital and the other is listed in self-isolation. New case information is released daily at noon.
