The heat warning across the Ottawa Valley continues as temperatures are expected to hit 36 degrees today (Monday, June 22nd) with the humidex.
Environment Canada says while it will be hot and humid, we can expect showers this afternoon with a risk of thunderstorms.
Tomorrow it could feel like 34 again with the humidex and more showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, but significantly cooler temperatures will arrive at night.
On Wednesday temperatures are expected to drop back down to 21.
During periods of extreme heat drink plenty of water and stay in a cool place. You should also check on older family, friends and neighbours and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Residents are also reminded to watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Environment Canada says to watch for symptoms of heat related illness which can include swelling, rashes, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
With temperatures in the 30°C+ range this week, a good reminder for us all and especially the #Paramedics responding to 911 calls & those testing in the community for #COVID in full PPE. #staywell #changingtimes pic.twitter.com/AaKbs27bLY
