It’s the first live concert of the summer of 2020 in the Ottawa Valley. The River Town Saints and Lemon Cash will be playing a fundraiser show at the Skylight Drive-In in Pembroke on Saturday, July 18th.
One of the band members for River Town Saints, Jeremy Bortot, says this is the first time they’ve played at a Drive-In movie theater so they have a few logistical things to work out. Bortat says they’re trying to figure out if they should set up a sound system, play their music through the vehicle stereos or do both.
All public health and safety guidelines will be followed for the show and the drive-in rules will apply. Bortat adds the band is looking forward to coming back together and playing some music after the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined live entertainment. The River Town Saints guitarist says musicians and artists thrive on these types of events.
The concert will be a fundraiser for the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre. Gates to the drive-in will open at 1:00 pm and tickets are $50. Bortat says this will be the River Town Saints first show for the summer of 2020 and he adds they are planning a few others. He hopes drive-in concerts become a new way for artists to get music out to people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bortat says the River Town Saints are finishing up an EP and recently released a new single called Slow Kiss. Tickets for the drive-in show are available on the bands website and can be purchased on Eventbrite starting Friday, June 19th at 4:00pm.
