Hospitals in the Ottawa Valley are starting to resume services that were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hospitals in the Champlain Region are taking a safe, coordinated and gradual approach to reopening.
Care teams are reviewing each case individually ensuring that risks and benefits are properly evaluated including looking at options for virtual appointments. Patients will be contacted as their care can be rescheduled.
Local hospitals will continue to monitor and adjust plans as needed and say decreasing services again might be necessary if COVID-19 activity in health care facilities increases.
The province says hospitals need to have less patients, appropriate staffing levels and sufficient personal protective equipment.
Anyone in need of urgent care is asked to go to the nearest emergency department. Hospitals in the region are taking every possible measure to ensure patient and staff safety, and are here to care for everyone in need.
