71.3 million dollars in Federal funding is about to flow to all seventeen regions in Quebec, through Ottawa’s Regional Assistance and Recovery Fund (RIFF).
The funding was announced Monday by Minister Mélanie Joly, and is intended to help businesses cope during this extremely difficult period.
Low-interest loans, technical assistance, access to expertise regarding adaptation and development of financial continuity plans allowing for the embrace of technology and/or online resources are all components of the package.
Shop local initiatives are included.
The programs will be administered through a 67-member network of Community Futures Development Corporations (SADCs) and Community Business Development Centers connected to Joly’s Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions initiative.
Efforts will focus on supporting local businesses and services, as well as tourism businesses that bolster the economic dynamics of towns and villages in the regions.
