Bonnechere Manor long-term care home in Renfrew is no longer listed in an active COVID-19 outbreak. The County of Renfrew says on May 9th an employee at the home tested positive, however on May 14th, that test result was found to be reported as an error.
LifeLabs says their investigation confirmed that the swab result was negative, but was incorrectly reported as positive. Bonnechere Manor has requested a written report from LifeLabs on this incident and their corrective actions. The COVID-19 outbreak status at Bonnechere Manor has since been withdrawn.
Warden Debbie Robinson says while an unfortunate incident it demonstrates once again that our long-term care homes are prepared and took all necessary precautions.
Both Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew and Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke have now completed all surveillance testing of all residents and staff a week ahead of the provincial directive. Some surveillance test results are still pending.
Director of Long-Term Care, Shelley Sheedy, says the health and safety of residents remain their top priority. She adds they will continue to follow the advice from Public Health to ensure everyone is protected while providing care and delivering essential services to our residents.
