The federal government has announced support for seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says those who receive old age security will get an extra $300 and if you are eligible for the guaranteed income supplement you will get an additional $200.
Almost 7-million seniors across Canada will get a one-time, tax-free top-up payment.
Trudeau says they are also investing $20-million in the New Horizons for Seniors program to help improve the quality of life for those who are isolated during the health crisis.
