The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) staff have been working hard to ramp up and complete COVID-19 testing for all staff and residents in Long Term Care Homes, Retirement Homes and operating Licensed Child Care Centres.
As of May 8th (last Friday), five of the nine Long-Term Care Homes in Renfrew County and District have completed the required testing.
The remaining four Long-Term Care Homes are either currently conducting testing or are scheduled to complete testing this week.
Eight of the twelve Retirement Homes are also all done, and the remaining homes are to be done this week.
Both operating licensed Child Care Centres have completed their testing, ahead of schedule by a week.
Infection prevention and control measures now in place are being reviewed, and all facilities will be inspected by this Friday.
Dr. Robert Cushman, local Medical Officer of Health is thanking front-line workers and urging we keep up the good fight.
He says there have been 4700 calls expressing COVID concerns or seeking to be tested.
