In the middle of a global pandemic, the provincial government is keeping their plans to kick start the economy this construction season. As part of the Connecting Links program, John Yakabuski, MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, announced that the province is providing Renfrew with $3 million to support the reconstruction of Stewart Street. The province is also providing the Bonnechere Valley with just over $751,000 to support the reconstruction of Bridge Street. Yakabuski says without the funding the municipalities may not have been able to proceed with the work.
Yakabuski says it’s nice to see provincial dollars flowing into Renfrew County. The funding covers up to 90% of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $3 million. Eligible costs include the design, construction, renewal, rehabilitation and replacement of connecting links. It’s part of a $30 million funding package initiated by the province.
Ontario is putting people first by helping municipalities make roads and bridges safer.
Applications are now open for the next round of the Connecting Links program for new projects starting in spring 2020. https://t.co/nCMJFCKrLZ pic.twitter.com/CTakOo91jd
