Some local firearms dealers are trying to sift through the information regarding the new firearms laws that came into effect across Canada on May 1st. Under the new rules, over 1,500 models of firearms are now listed as prohibited. Owner of Perkins Guns and Ammo in Pembroke, Lance Perkins says the new changes will affect not just his business, but all hunting supply stores.
The prohibition also includes certain components of some newly prohibited firearms with the upper receivers of the M16, AR-10, AR-15, and M4 pattern firearms. New maximum thresholds for muzzle energy and bore diameter are in place. Any firearm that exceeds them is now a prohibited firearm. For the full details regarding the new gun laws, click here.
