If you could have a dream job, it might be proving out new concepts in nuclear fuel.
Program Manager of CNL’s Fuel Division, Ali Siddiqui says the nuclear research facility has struck a deal with Moltex Energy to test out its fuel concept for small modular reactors.
Siddiqui says Moltex plans to recycle spent fuel to power a potential nuclear site.
The CNL Fuel Division Manager says local efforts would initially involve a dry-run of the prototype concept, possibly leading to hot cell testing in a CNL lab.
The Moltex concept is a variation of its “stable salt” technology.
The deal struck by CNL is an early part of its CNRI (“scenery”) strategy, to expand cooperation with the Small Modular Reactor industry.
