The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is hosting a virtual vigil tonight (April 23rd) to honour the victims of the tragic incident that took place in Nova Scotia. The Director of the Centre, JoAnne Brooks, says residents in Renfrew County will remember the murders of three local women back in 2015 and this is an opportunity for the community to come together (online) through these difficult times.
Brooks encourages those interested in participating to go to the Facebook page for the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County and register in advance. The virtual vigil starts at 8:00 pm tonight (April 23rd) and everyone is welcome. Brooks says in times of lockdown women are much more vulnerable to abusers so they’re seeing an increase in calls.
Anyone who needs to reach out for help can contact the 24-hour crisis line at 1-800-663-3060.
