A Water Safety statement issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry remains in effect until Wednesday. Officials remind residence along the Ottawa River to keep a close watch on conditions, check for updated messages and exercise caution near fast moving rivers and streams. If you normally experience flooding, ensure your sump pumps are working and that you secure items that could float away or be washed away with rising water levels. The Ministry is monitoring weather as well as developing watershed conditions and they’ll issue updates as required. In the meantime, freshet levels and flows are in average range for this time of year. Northern reservoirs are being managed to accommodate significant snow that remains in the basin. A release indicates levels and flows of the Ottawa River will start to decrease through the week.
