The business community in Ontario is rallying through the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Vic Fedeli, says over 17,000 companies and individuals have signed up to make personal protective equipment on the Ontario Together website.
Fedeli talked about the Cupboard Helpers in the Pembroke and Petawawa area who have sewn over 1,000 headbands and masks for frontline workers and the Men’s Shed in McNab/Braeside along with Arnprior Glass who are making protective shields that are used all across the Ottawa Valley.
The Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade says the $50-million fund for Ontario Together is helping companies retool or buy new equipment to make much needed supplies in Ontario. Fedeli thinks once the pandemic is over we will shift towards a more made in Ontario approach.
Fedeli adds the government is supporting businesses and individuals on the road to recovery through a $17-billion action plan.
