During the COVID crisis in Ontario, every effort has been made to protect the supply chain- but what happens when a production worker takes ill?
Recently, Maple Leaf Foods suspended operations at its Brampton, Ontario Poultry plant out of an abundance of caution while the company completed an investigation into three COVID cases that have occurred with people working at the facility.
During the shutdown the plant was deep cleaned including common areas and offices.
While an additional COVID case occurred in a team member at Maple Leaf’s Heritage plant in Hamilton, the worker had not been present at the plant for two weeks before the diagnosis.
That plant was sanitized and resumed operations.
Throughout the Maple Leaf Foods network additional sanitation tasks are being completed to compliment the firm’s already high standards.
Staff no longer take their breaks in common area, and positions on the production line have been spaced to the required two-metre physical distancing rule and all front-line workers now have their temperatures taken prior to starting their shift.
Customers have the additional assurance of knowing that Health experts in both Canada and the United States do not believe COVID-19 to be a food-borne illness.
