The Chief of Staff at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, Doctor Tom Hurley, has provided an update on the use of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. He says social distancing and proper hand hygiene should still be your top priority, but adds masks provide many benefits.
Doctor Hurley says masks can protect you from others, reduce how often you touch your face and prevent the spread of the virus.
The PRH Chief of Staff says N95 masks should only be used by medical professionals and says surgical masks and fabric bandanas will work when you’re out in public and not able to practice physical distancing. Doctor Hurley says make sure you take the mask off from the sides or back and wash your hands before and after you put the face mask on.
