In response to the province’s designation of restricted fire zone, Horton Fire Department is implementing a total burn ban until further notice. This includes agricultural burns, burn barrels and brush piles, as well as campfires, chimeneas, cooking fires, consumer fireworks, incinerators and other types of outdoor burning. The exception is cooking appliances with a shut off, including propane or natural gas cooking equipment like barbecues. Fire Chief Allan Cole says the need for social distancing and to assist in the health, safety and well-being of our firefighters we placed an open-air burn ban as a precautionary measure to avoid any additional strain on our fire services at this time.
