The Public Health Department (CISSS) in Outaouais Region notes that the incidence of COVID-19 in rural area of the region bounded by Gatineau, Maniwaki and the Pontiac is still very low.
Five of the 50 cases reported as of Tuesday afternoon are in rural communities in the region.
Each new confirmed case automatically triggers a rigorous investigation as to the contacts the infected individual may have had.
CISSS is expressing concern about the stigmatization of the infected individuals; these persons need support.
The Health Department says citizens should respect and follow the government’s isolation measures and avoid non-essential travel.
