The first death in Ottawa linked to COVID-19 has been reported. Ottawa Public Health says the man in his 90’s was living at home with no travel history. The man developed a fever on March 15th and was admitted to hospital five days later. The City of Ottawa declared a state of emergency yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The Ottawa Valley reported their first case of COVID-19 on Wednesday night. The Renfrew County and District Health Unit says a woman in her 90’s, who was living in a retirement home in Pembroke, contracted the virus without any history of travel. The individual is currently an inpatient at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. The health unit is reminding residents to practice physical or social distancing to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
