Giant Tiger is recognizing its hard-working employees with a 2 dollar-per-hour temporary shift premium in recognition of the work they are doing to keep shelves stocked during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Canadian retailer joins No Frills and Your Independent Grocer outlets in making the move- which is retroactive to March 8th.
Giant Tiger is also looking to hire more workers, based on increased product demand.
In addition to an increased cleaning regiment and heightened sanitization and disinfection activities, Giant Tiger has taken further additional steps to maintain customer and employee safety.
Stores are asking customers to practice social distancing while shopping, and encouraging customers to use debit or credit, where possible.
Giant Tiger will continue to accept cash.
If you bring along your own reusable shopping bags, you will have to pack them yourself- but the bright yellow plastic bags are free during the Covid crisis.
Should your Giant Tiger outlet has an in-store public washrooms and/or change room, it will be closed until further notice.
There are reminders placed at the front door of Giant Tiger stores for customers feeling unwell or who have recently travelled to kindly shop online at gianttiger.com.
