42 new cases of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 have been reported in Ontario including two in Ottawa and one in Eastern Ontario. All the cases are travel related and the individuals are self isolating. Information is still pending for 21 of the most recent positive cases in Ontario. A man in his 40’s from Ottawa contracted the virus from close contact after travelling to Spain, Belgium and the Canary Islands. A female from Ottawa in her 60’s who recently returned from Germany and Malta has tested positive for COVID-19 and a man in his 60’s who returned from the UK has also tested positive.
There are still NO positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Renfrew County.
Symptoms range from mild – like the flu and other common respiratory infections – to severe. The most common symptoms include: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, runny nose and diarrhea.
Anyone who thinks they may have COVID-19 is asked to self-isolate and seek advice over the phone. You are asked to contact either Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) or the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (613-735-8654 ext. 577).
