The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is reminding the public there are NO local cases of COVID-19. New positive case information is shared by public health units to the province who updates their website twice a day around 10:30am and 5:30pm. As of last night (March 18th), there was no COVID-19 cases reported in Renfrew County.
Local paramedics started testing residents last week and across Ontario just under 14,000 people (13,897) have been tested with 214 confirmed cases and one death. Province wide there’s been over 10,000 negative tests and upwards of 3,300 people are waiting test results. Coronaviruses are mainly spread from person to person through close contact, which is why social distancing is important.
Symptoms range from mild – like the flu and other common respiratory infections – to severe. The most common symptoms include: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, runny nose and diarrhea.
Anyone who thinks they may have COVID-19 is asked to self-isolate and seek advice over the phone. You are asked to contact either Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) or the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (613-735-8654 ext. 577).
