Everyone is taking steps to slow down the spread of COVID-19 in Renfrew County. Renfrew Hydro is restricting access to their building, including their customer service counter. They’re asking visitors, including customers, contractors and suppliers to either phone, email, fax or visit their website until further notice. Horton Township has closed their buildings to the public, however you can still reach staff by phone to address questions and concerns. Council and committee meetings have been cancelled until further notice, rate payers are encouraged to pay taxes on line or use the drop box at the office and the deadline for dog tags is extended until April 30. Garbage and recycling curbside pick up will continue and the landfill remains open during it’s regular hours, only bagged garbage and recycling will be accepted. Burn permits can be applied for online via the township’s website. Meanwhile the town of Renfrew has closed all of their buildings as well, including the landfill site, however garbage and recycling collection will continue. Similar to Horton Renfrew rate payers are encouraged to make water bill and tax payments on line, through telephone banking, mail a cheque or drop a cheque off at Town Hall in the mail slot. Officials and staff continue to meet to discuss further options and more changes are expected to be announced later today.
