Another new case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has showed up in Ottawa. One of the most recent cases involves a female from Ottawa in her 40’s who recently travelled to England. The individual is listed as now self-isolating. The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has NOT reported any cases of COVID-19 locally.
Health experts say you should remain calm, but be prepared. The Pembroke Regional Hospital is reminding travelers to stay up to date on travel health notices from the Government of Canada. While the risk to residents in Ontario and across Renfrew County remains low, if you start having symptoms you’re asked to isolate yourself from others as quickly as possible. Symptoms for the novel coronavirus include a fever, cough and difficulty breathing.
Anyone who thinks they may have contracted COVID-19 is asked to contact the Renfrew County District Health Unit (613-735-8654 ext. 577) or Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000). You’re reminded the best way to protect yourself is by washing your hands often, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing and to avoid touching your face.
